 Associate Jennifer L. Fessler recently authored an article titled “Don’t Steal this Article!” which appears in Business NH Magazine’s December 2010 issue (pages 12-13). The article is meant to describe and illustrate the affects of online piracy on the business sector and on the United States’ economic recovery. The quantity of illegally downloaded music, movies and books continues to rise each year. It appears there is a correlation between the down economy and the rise of online piracy. The article discusses such economic implications as well as pointing out the potential penalties under the law for copyright infringement. These penalties can be severe and unexpected. Also, the article touches on Congress’ latest attempt to protect the country from the affects of online pirates.
